A Royal Legacy

We are honoured to welcome HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh as our President, continuing the deep royal ties that began with our founder, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.

Prince Philip was instrumental in launching this event in 1982, with a vision to share his passion for carriage driving at his beloved Sandringham Estate. Since then, Sandringham has hosted:

  • The 1984 FEI World Horse Pairs Championship

  • The 2002 FEI European Pony Four-in-Hand Championship

  • The 2014 FEI Para-Equestrian Championships

  • The 2022 National Single Horse Championships

Today, that legacy lives on in a vibrant, community-driven festival welcoming over 130 competitors, dozens of classes, and thousands of spectators each year.

New for 2025

“Our vision for 2025 is simple: if it has wheels and goes behind a horse, we want it at Sandringham.”

Robin Hyde-Chambers, Chairman

With even more disciplines, a growing volunteer community, and exciting new sponsorship partners, 2025 marks a bold new chapter — and you’re invited to be part of it.
